This umbrella has a long slim handle made from 3 mother-of-pearl sections and an ebonized section. There is a silver collar below the handle with a black cord tassel.
'Nacre, also known as mother-of-pearl, is an organic-inorganic composite material produced by some molluscs as an inner shell layer. It is also the material of which pearls are composed. It is strong, resilient, and iridescent.'

The umbrella has a metal shaft with full metal fixings. The frame holds an original black silk canopy.
