This unusual antique umbrella has a rounded glass handle with inset semi-precious green gems, and carved detailing around them. 

The handle is furnished with a copper and 2 gold collars, hallmarked for: 
9 Carat London 1918 
Along with a maker's mark: 
JS 
Believed to be for the renowned umbrella makers: 
James Smith & Sons 
In 1830, a Mr Smith founded the now-famous firm of James Smith and Sons at Foubert’s Place, just off Regent Street in London’s West End. The items were made in a small workshop in the back of the shop and then sold to customers at the front. The shop is currently located in Hazelwood House, London. ​

Partridge wood shaft with an original black wrist strap. 

Metal Paragon Fox frame that holds a black nylon canopy, ending in a cane section with an original metal ferrule. 

A one-of-a-kind umbrella, suitable for use or a collector.
