Royal Marines Light Infantry (RMLI)
'The Royal Marine Light Infantry (RMLI) was a branch of the Royal Marines that existed from 1855 until 1923, when it merged with the Royal Marine Artillery to form the single corps of Royal Marines. Formed by renaming the marine infantry forces, its role as light infantry was to act as skirmishers ahead of naval landing parties, a traditional light infantry function. The RMLI served in many campaigns and conflicts throughout its existence.
