This Edwardian walking stick features a skilfully hand-carved treen top in the shape of a pointer dog's head, with original sharp glass eyes. This can be attributed to Briggs animal head carver Czilinsky, due to the style.
The stick is furnished with a silver collar with hallmarks for:
'London 1904'
With a maker's mark:
'C.D'
For the London-based silversmith:
'Charles Henry Dumemil'
'Charles Henry Dumenil was one of Briggs silversmiths throughout the early 1900s and is noted on page 103 of the ‘In Good Hands – Swaine Adeney Brigg’ book by Katherine Prior.'
The collar is also engraved with a crown and the initial of the original owner:
'C'
