This is a rare ell wand, used for measuring fabric.

The stick has a dark wood handle and a rectangular tapering shaft with several measuring increments.

The shaft features the name of the original owner:
S.Digge

An ell measuring wand (historically called an ellwand or ell stick) is an ancient, obsolete measuring rod primarily used by tailors and merchants to measure cloth. The "ell" itself is an archaic unit of length originally based on the length of a person's arm, usually from the elbow to the fingertips.

A one-of-a-kind item, ideal for a collector.

Measurements;
Length - 32.5" / 82.5cm
Length of the handle - 5.5" / 14cm
Shaft length below the handle - 27" / 69cm
Diameter of the shaft below the handle - 1.7cm
Weight - 118g

Very good condition with some small use marks.
