This horse riding whip features a plaited handle, furnished with a silver top & collar. The collar is hallmarked for: 
'London 1864' 
And the repousse top is hallmarked: 
'London 1867' 

The collar features a presentation: 
'Presented to Capt E.Mackay 
by the N.C Officers & Men 
of the Company as a Token of Esteem 
and Respect on his Leaving the Reg 
49th Regt June 1867' 

'The 49th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) (Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in 1743. Under the Childers Reforms it amalgamated with the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot to form the Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment) in 1881.​' 

The top also features a maker: 
'Swaine & Adeney London' 
 'Swaine London, known previously as Swaine & Adeney (1848 - 1910) is one of the oldest names in high quality canes, whips, umbrellas and military items and has traded in London's St James's for over 270 years.' 

Plaited linen shaft with a professionally replaced leather end. 

A rare item, perfect for a military collector or use.
