This riding whip features a silver ball top hallmarked:  Birmingham 1980   And embossed with the makers mark:  D&N  For the Birmingham-based whip and military item manufacturers:  Dalman & Narborough   The business started in 1850 when Frederick Narborough opened a small workshop in Birmingham, manufacturing handcrafted, sterling silver-mounted walking canes and riding whips for the gentry. The firm remained in the Narborough family for decades. In 1925, S.C. Dalman, a nephew of the Narborough family, joined the company. ​ Plaited brown leather shaft with an original brown leather end.  Perfect for use or a collector.  Measurements:  Length - 65cm  Top diameter - 2.5cm  Diameter of the shaft below the top - 1.4cm  Weight - 71g
